Mayawati reviewed development works of various
departments and directed officials to ensure speedy
implementation of all government schemes.
In a bid to increase agricultural production, Mayawati
asked the officials of Irrigation Department to accelerate
rabi campaign n ensure easy and timely availability of seed,
fertiliser and loan to farmers, an official spokesman said.
She also asked the cane department for timely payment
of sugarcane price to farmers.
Journalist Mark Tully's book launched
Chennai,-"Non Stop India", penned by former
BBC Journalist Mark Tully was launched here.
Detailing about the book, Tully, who also authored "No
Full Stops in India", said he had extensively covered India
over the last 20 years.
"I have mentioned many points in the book..but some of
the important ones include that people (in India) sometimes
tend to ignore (societal) problems that lie and most
importantly, there is a need for good governance in India", he
said.
Hopes for early resolution of US
visa row issue
New Delhi,-India said it has conveyed
its concerns to the US over the hike in fees for H1B and L
category visas and hopes for an "early resolution" of the
issue as the move was affecting Indian companies.
Terming it as a "serious issue", Minister of State for
Commerce Jyotiraditya Scindia assured the Rajya Sabha during
the Question Hour that the government has made efforts at
various levels to resolve the issue at the earliest.
"The visa fees applicable to H1B and L category visas have
been increased by the US under some legislative measures...
The matter has been taken up at various bilateral forums and
we are hopeful we will arrive at an early resolution," he
said.
International Herbal Mela
Bhopal,-Madhya Pradesh Minor Forest
Produce Co-operative Federation will organise a four-day-long
'International Herbal Mela' here between December 16 and 20.
The fair will be inaugurated by Madhya Pradesh
Governor Ram Naresh Yadav on December 16, while Chief Minister
Shivraj Singh Chouhan will preside over the closing ceremony,
Federation Chairman and MLA Vishwas Sarang told here.
